The theme of James Bond seems to reoccur quite a lot in these blog entries, mainly because Sean Connery started experiencing hair loss very early in his career and wore a hairpiece in most of the 007 movies, which he stopped wearing in his later movies and lost none of his charm or magnetism. Just for fun, here are some interesting facts on Sean Connery and the other James Bond actors and movies. 1. Sean Connery’s contract allowed him to keep most much of the wardrobe he wore in the Bond movies. He ended up with 147 suites 23 Tuxedos 17 Overcoats 11 Jackets 41 Hats and 68 pair of shoes all of which he wore when playing 007 2…. read more

We obviously wish England every success for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. One of the greatest football players we have on our team is Wayne Rooney and in 1966 when we last won the World Cup we had Bobby Charlton…….see the link? In 1966 Bobby Charlton and the team won a heroic victory over West Germany to take the World Cup back to Blighty. This turned Bobby (and Jackie) Charlton into a worldwide legend for the next 40 years! Everyone wanted Bobby Charlton on their TV programmes or as a match pundit or anywhere in front of the camera. The fact that Bobby had very little hair never detracted from the success of this great sportsman. People saw… read more

In our regular blogs we often state how in our experience, hair loss in young men, particularly when it begins in their teens is often more aggressive and difficult to prevent than in older men, where it is generally more gradual. Even the future King of England is not exempt from this. Although he is in an incredibly privileged position, probably with access to the most eminent dermatologists and trichologists in the world, sadly Prince William is also losing his hair. The next question people are probably asking is whether Prince William uses ProFusion products and we would not be betraying any confidences by saying that, to the best of our knowledge, he is currently not a customer. Even though… read more

Watching James Nesbitt on GMTV was an interesting experience. The talented Irish actor never seems to be out of a job and is one of the very few British character actors around. Part of his character is his thinning hair. It suits him. I watched an interview with him a couple of years ago where he said that he regretted losing his hair (OK heard that one before), however it has enabled him to be cast in so many interesting parts where his receding hairline was part of his character. It also didn’t stop him being very attractive to the fairer sex. (thanks to facebook for the photograph) I was therefore surprised to see him on GMTV this morning, with… read more

Everyone knows that the “Shaken not Stirred” line is one of the archetype James Bond 007 lines much loved by everyone. On a personal note, I feel that the two latest James Bond movies with Daniel Craig have completely missed the point and have become “Hollywood Action Movies” and lack the laconic humour which typify a great Bond movie. But I digress! The actor who played the original James Bond from Dr No and From Russia with Love onwards is of course, Sean Connery. Although a great Bond, Connery did suffer from hair loss from a very early age and it is alleged that he wore hair pieces in all of the Bond movies from the very beginning. A few… read more

As you know this blog is purely concerned about hair loss, so why am I going to talk about Agatha Christie, who to the best of my knowledge had a reasonable head of hair. I was watching the Hercule Poirot Christmas Mystery, starring the brilliantly cast David Suchet (whose brother incidentally is the newscaster John Suchet). The utterly immaculate and faultless Belgian detective with his usual charm and surgeon-like precision solved yet another unsolvable case, showing his absolutely superiority and expertise in reading and understanding the human psyche. Put simply David Suchet is brilliant at the part….brilliant and bald! Probably like so many others watching this program, I am so utterly captivated by Mr Suchet’s performance and the way he… read more

What has James Bond and Indiana Jones have to do with hair loss. The archetype James Bond, Sean Connery who starred in Goldfinger, Dr No, Thunderball etc., later went on to star in Indiana Jones as Harrison Ford’s father. What is interesting about Sean Connery is that he lost his hair at a very early age, and probably wore a hairpiece for Goldfinger. As his career progressed he abandoned the hairpiece and appeared completely bald from then on, with, in my opinion, one of his best performances being a movie called The name of the Rose. Around the time he was cast as Indiana Jones’ Dad in the movie of the same name, Sean Connery was voted as being one… read more
