The Observer on Hair Loss

Cures for baldness: hair-raising science with thanks to Tim Lott from the Observer,  Sunday 17 April 2011 With radical transplant techniques and revolutionary formulae for regrowth, men – and the women who love them – may be looking forward to a luxuriantly hirsute future. It is some time now since I started to worry about baldness – somewhere between the retreat of the already fine hair at my temples in my early 30s and the final failing of the last growth of hair at my crown a few years back. I had been trying to convince myself that things might not be too bad for the past 20 years. But at the beginning of this year, at the age of… read more

Northern Ireland has the Highest Rate of Female Hair Loss

Northern Ireland has the second highest rate of female hair loss in the UK. According to the findings, almost a quarter (23%) of women in Northern Ireland are either suffering or have suffered from hair loss – putting the province just behind Scotland. Of those, around 75% said they had suffered severe emotional distress from developing the conditions and 14% even said they would be tempted to cancel social engagements or call in sick at work if they were having a bad skin or bad hair day. More than three quarters of Ulster respondents said they felt there was very little information regarding thinning hair for women, saying that it was more commonly accepted as a problem for men and… read more

Latest Review for ProFusion Shampoo for Hair Loss

Latest Review for ProFusion Shampoo for Hair Loss

At ProHair Biosystems we are value the opinion of our customers and writing a review for a hair loss treatment is not easy, because hair loss is still something of a taboo and most men don’t like talking about losing their hair and certainly don’t like having their thinning hair pointed out to them. So we really appreciate when a customer takes time time and trouble to write to us to tell us how well the product is working for them and permits us to use their testimonial on our website.  Their feedback is the most important indication of what customers can reasonably expect from ProFusion products for their hair loss. Interview Tips for Candidates with Thinning Hair

First Impressions A common problem with losing one’s hair is the worry about first impressions when you meet someone for the first time.  People with thinning hair often think that first thing other people see is their hair.  In reality this is not true for most first time meetings because (for men), most people notice height, build, voice, self confidence or implied level of ‘importance’, even their perceived wealth, long before they take in your hair. If you were to meet Bruce Willis or Patrick Stewart, you wouldn’t immediately notice how bald they were, you would simply be pleased to meet two very famous movie stars.  Similarly if someone says, I’ll introduce you to the CEO of Hewlett Packard (and… read more

What Web MD Says About Thinning Hair

1. Hair Loss is a Common Problem About 85% of men will have significant hair thinning by the time they’re 50, according to the American Hair Loss Association.  Some men begin to lose their hair before they even turn 21. 2. Uncovering Hair Loss Myths Does wearing a baseball cap cause baldness?  Nope.  Someone running their fingers through your hair won’t cause it either. Neither will combing, brushing, twisting, or styling.  But avoid being too rough to prevent hair breakage. 3.  Quit Smoking and Save Your Hair? Several studies show a significant relationship between smoking and how fast male-pattern baldness gets worse.  So if you need one more reason to quit smoking, add early hair loss to your list. 4. … read more

Going Grey

Going Grey

Silver Fox Salt and pepper, silver, pewter, charcoal.  Whatever you call it, grey hair happens to all of us at some point. But why do some people go grey in their 20s, while others don’t see the first sign of silver until age 50? And if you’re going grey early, what should you do about it? What’s ‘Premature’ Hair goes grey when color-producing cells stop producing pigment, says Jeffrey Benabio, MD, a dermatologist at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego. Naturally occurring hydrogen peroxide can also build up in the hair, bleaching the color. Typically, white people start going grey in their mid-30s, Asians in their late 30s, and black people in their mid-40s. Half of all people have a significant… read more

Hair Transplants

There is little doubt that the technique of hair transplantation has improved immensely over the past 10 years, and the original dolls hair look, often unkindly referred to as plugs are less common than they used to be.  Like all science, hair transplantation has advanced and will continue to get better. We obviously hope that using ProFusion or your own choice of hair loss prevention will delay the need to consider a hair transplant and also that ProFusion will be useful in retaining the original hair you have post-transplant. In this article we would like explain three techniques for hair transplantation. The Strip Method of Transplantation The Strip technique involves removing the hair follicles to be transplanted as one group… read more

Whether to Syrup?

Whether to Syrup?

For anyone unfamiliar with Cockney Rhyming Slang a Syrup or ‘Syrup of Figs’ is a Wig, or more politically correct a hairpiece or toupe.  For the record, Syrup of Figs is a very old fashioned laxative that is rarely seen or used these days. People who have experienced hair loss are often faced with a number of choices which include a hair transplant or a wig.  We have discussed transplants in previous blogs but not wigs. Modern wigs are in fact very good and are getting increasingly difficult to tell from real hair, especially celebrity wigs on TV which are aided by very clever makeup.  Just a few years ago wigs were incredibly conspicuous, especially when some weren’t even made… read more

Relationships and the Image you Project

Hi All, I’ve been a little quiet of late, mainly due to having elderly parents who are not in good health, so I apologise. What you may also know is that I also contribute to a number of other blogs, obviously only giving my personal opinions, however the subject which comes up time and time again is relationships and how these are affected by hair loss. I have read some young guys making statements like ‘my life is over’ because they have lost a lot of their hair in their teens or 20′s. Let’s be clear, this is cruel when it happens (I began losing mine in my early 30′s) and everyone would rather it didn’t happen…but hey…it happens! People… read more
